The WOW! Forum, sponsored by the Northwest CT Chamber of Commerce, is the area’s largest professional development conference. Held in September each year the forum includes specialized workshops to develop leadership and business skills, motivational speakers to help balance life with career plans as well as time to network and make new friends. Nancy Garfield, chairwoman of this year’s event and Litchfield Bancorp vice-president explains, “The WOW Forum is so special because it’s a day where women can grow, both professionally and personally. It’s a unique experience and we hope that everyone leaves the day with a new perspective and more positive outlook on the world around them.”
The 2009 WOW Forum featured keynote speaker, Kim Lyons, former trainer on the NBC reality series “The Biggest Loser” and humorist and motivational speaker, Jay Wallus. The master of ceremonies was Jennifer Parsons, general manager of WZBG, 97.3 FM. The morning and afternoon workshops offered topics on marketing, leadership, sales, employee empowerment, communication and entrepreneurship to further the event’s goal of providing professional development and personal growth opportunities for businesswomen in Litchfield County. In addition to the full-day business conference, 200 high school senior girls attended a WOW Youth Program, held concurrently.
