The 9th annual “Golf For Good Causes” tournament, held last month, raised an impressive $22,000 for local non-profit organizations. Litchfield Bancorp’s Tom Villanova, a tournament sponsor, summed up the day, “This year’s Golf for Good Causes” was a resounding success thanks to the many individual and corporate sponsors who, despite the unprecedented economic climate, made the effort to help us help others”.
A sellout field of 116 golfers enjoyed the beautiful September day while making a big difference for four local organizations: Susan B. Anthony Project, FISH Inc, and the Community Kitchen, all of Torrington and the Open Door in Winsted. A total of $172,000 has been raised since the tournament's inception in 2001.
John Gergots of Northwest Community Bank chaired this year’s event with partners Litchfield Bancorp and Burns, Brooks and McNeil. Gergots thanked the participants, “With your support we have made a difference in the lives of many individuals in northwestern Connecticut. I am proud to be part of a community that recognizes and supports these charities with such enthusiasm.”
